Baby Vorticon Creature
These little blue vorticons run around and breakneck speed, running over and paralyzing Keen for a bit. These guys can be very annoying, but if you zap them once your worries will disapear.

Keen's spaceship that he uses to travel to different parts of the galaxy.
Some switches control the existence of bridges, to enable Keen to get from one place to another. Bridges can also be deactivated when an enemy is standing on one, with interesting results.
Where all Keen's beliefs and fears come together in a titantic, shocking finale to the "Invasion of the Vorticons" series! This is where Keen finally meets the Grand Intellect.

An impossible maze that you must get through to reach the Grand Intellect.

Color Key Doors Other
Commander Keen must open these doors with colored keys or gems.
Grab an icon of Commander Keen or other items to receive and extra life. In each different episode, a certain amount of points will also get you a new life. The amounts is usually 20,000 points.
These are cute, harmless little yellow aliens. In fact, they're scared and will run away from you! By simply touching them, they will explode doing no damage to you. Or if you're really mean you could just zap them with your raygun.
The regular Vorticon that you will meet in the levels. Easy to defeat by one shot to kill. Unfortunately these Vorticons also like to jump which can pose a real hazard. Turning off the lights will solve that problem.

Commander Keen's arch-nemesis. Mortimer is usually behind all the schemes to destroy the universe or take things over. He has been known by some species as the the Gannalech or Grand Intellect.

Meep Creature
A green alien that strolls along singing, and in some way expelling slow-moving sound waves. The singing is so bad that the sound waves will kill you! One shot will kill it.

A mythical beast known affectionately as "Messie" that supposedly lives in Loch Mess on Vorticon VI.

Mid-Air Pogo Other
You can pull out your pogo stick in the middle of a normal jump, giving you good control of that first jump.
Platforms are a major convenience- even a necessity on Fribbulus Xax. In most places they are used to transport you over dangerous obstacles, or to places out of reach. Many of the platforms(or "plats" as the locals call them) are still the old style which are operated by Bips. Other types of platforms occur on other planets as well.
Commander Keen uses his pogo stick to reach otherwise inaccessible places. In Keen GBC, you use the pogo to knock out your enemies after you have stunned them with the Neural Ray Blaster.
Fish that are stranded. What else could it be? Just don't touch them.

Switches Other
Switches in Keen 1 and 3 only control lights and bridges; switches in Keen 4-6 only activate/deactivate platforms and bridges. Switches in K6 can be jumped or pogoed off, just as they are flicked downwards.
Keen 1 and Keen 3: The teleporters found on the maps of the games and teleport you to other locations. Keen 5: A teleportation device is hidden in the Gravitational Damping Hub of Keen 5. It leads to the bonus level on the planet of Korath III, the Secret Korath III Base. There is another return-teleporter on the map of Korath III. Keen 6: A teleporter that teleports you to an "underground" portion of Keen VI. Keen GBC: When Commander Keen uses one of these, he pops out of another one in a different area of the level in Keen GBC.
After destroying the Mangling Machine Keen gets rewarded the "Big V" by the Vorticon King.

The deadliest fighting force in the galaxy. They have been trained by the Grand Intellect to take no prisoners. The Vortininjas can run, jump and even kick you! On top of that, it takes four shots to kill them!
